Countdown Live 2005/2006

Yup, I bought the dvd yesterday for CDL 2005/2006; I'm considering buying the vcd version for the subtitles. Dun think of it as $$ wasting, its not! To me, it is worth fucking ten times of wad u usually spend on. Price and worth is relative, if it is worthy to me, den I find it worthy. Period.

Ray touched on a great sentence yesterday in my defence against Andy's accusations. Andy kao peh dat I beri 'flower heart'; like Ayumi, like Kim Hee Sun, like Lee Young Ae etc. Ray defends me dat my quest for Ayumi still stays true and at a different level den others. Dis is the difference: why in NUSSC, Ray is definitely part of the most intimate friendship circle while Andy, although close, still doesn't measure up. Ray understands me, dats enuf. Thanx my bro!

Ayumi is definitely a different story altogether, I myself cannot explain my luv for her. Call it fate, call it affinity. Perhaps, it's destiny......I juz luv her n her songs. The other celebrities I liked are purely because I find sum beauty in them dat's attractive to me. Not juz physical. I'm the kinda dats obsessed wif aura, or wad u call 'qi zhi'. 'Like' n 'Luv' are 2 different words, u know rite???

I will never falter in my support for Ayumi. CDL 2005/2006 is a great concert, so I muz enjoy it!!

Nice things in Life

1) Dinner wif NUSSC

2) Ayumi Hamasaki's Theme for A-nation'03

Module Evaluation

Since I finished all my exams, I will do a simple evaluation of dis sibei damn siong sem.

1) TS2235: Marketing the Arts n Leisure Services
Lecturer: K.K. Seet
Evaluation: The marketing plan was quite vexing, a lot of stuff to do. N the group members are not exactly the best. However, Dr. Seet is interesting; the class is quite enjoyable also.
Final Paper: SUX! Compulsory question about marketing communication process which I've no fucking idea wad the hell it is. Screwed up the important compulsory question. Hope dun buang!

2)LSM1303: Animal Behaviour
Lecturer: Sodhi & Sivasothi
Evaluation: The presentation was okay, the group normal. Overall, I enjoyed wad we learnt about the animals n the fun we had in observing their behaviour. A good topic for me coz I've a lot of interest in mother nature.
Final Paper: Haiz! Sibei damn boh liao questions. The paper is a contest not to see who is good, budden to see who suay suay cock up!

3) Ts2238: Singapore Film Performance of Identity
Lecturer: Edna Lim
Evaluation: The best module dis sem! Making ur own film is sibei damn fun, especially the editing is a harrowing experience dat will shorten ur life by 1/2. However, having ur own 'baby' is really a rewarding experience. N u get to see all those stylish videos! Besides, the tutorial discussions also touched on certain interesting issues dat provided diversified insights.
Final Paper: Wah Lau! The compulsory question is especially a pain in the neck, asking for definition of Singapore film. Kaoz! The paper is a bad ending to the module!

4) SC4203: Sociology of Organization
Lecturer: Jennifer Jarman
Evaluation: The most slack module. Only like have 7-8 lessons instead of the usual 13. N not much is taught, in fact I only know about the three systems approach. Dat's it. Dat's all it is.
Final Paper: Sux! Again the compulsory question is very broad and unfocused. Easy to lose sight of one's position.

5) SC2212: Sociology of Deviance
Lecturer: Gana & Joanna
Evaluation: Okie. The lectures are a bit boring wif the same point being repeated in different colourful vocabulary. Luckily, Gana is a very funny person wif his antics and 'pearls of wisdom'. However, Joanna totally crashes the whole module. She taught as if we are young students who dun fucking know how to deal wif exams. She wasted the tutorials on teaching us how to score in exams when we should have discussed and debated over interesting perspectives and issues. Waste of my tutorial time learning NOTHING!
Final Paper: Not good! The compulsory question is a killer. Choice question not really interesting.

Hence, the interesting trend dis sem is dat compulsory questions all SUX big time. Period.

The greatest pain in life is not to die, but to be ignored.

To lose the person you love so much to another who doesn't care at all.

To have someone you care so about so much throw a party... and not tell you about it.

When your favorite person on earth neglects to invite you to his graduation.

To have people think that you don't care.

The greatest pain in life, is not to die, but to be forgotten.

To be left in the dust after another's great achievement.

To never get a call from a friend, just saying "hi".

When you show someone your innermost thoughts and they laugh in your face.

For friends to always be too busy to console you when you need someone to lift your spirits.

When it seems like the only person who cares about you, is you.

Life is full of pain, but does it ever get better?

Will people ever care about each other, and make time for those who are in need?

Each of us has a part to play in this great show we call life.

Each of us has a duty to mankind to tell our friends we love them.

If you do not care about your friends you will not be punished.

You will simply be ignored... forgotten... as you have done to others.

Lessons Learnt

1 - Never ever watch a horror show again!

Kena spooked by the korean show on friday; touching on one of my hated objects: mirror! Hate the ending n will not allow myself to be scared again.....

2 - No last minute studying!

2moro have 2 papers; n here I am without really touching on much on them. N the worst thing; to be so afraid and worried dat it's affecting my condition. Damn, I deserve such torture for my laziness!

3 - Take care of health!

When one gets old, how frail can one get? Not only has I been battling the viruses, even injuries are laying their claims on me. Stubbed toe, cuts here n there. I merely knocked a bit here n there n I suffer from so many cuts. I hate getting OLD!

4 - Keep memories of the good things in life!

Dis I have done to a certain extent; I've remembered Lee Young Ae's real life looks and her disposition since dat fateful Monday!!

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

I cnt blog for now; still under the spell of Lee Young Ae.......

Gimme sweet dreams............................of her.............

I dun wan to forget her real look...........

Lee Young Ae

First off, hand in the last deadline SC4203 essay!

Next, catch a movie wif Jason. Ice Age 2. Quite funny siah!

Den get to know 2 great songs: Cagnet's Hear Me Cry n Ai Otsuka's Sakuranbo!

Budden the real deal to make my day today:

Catching Lee Young Ae in REAL LIFE!!!

Yes, I 'accidentally' pass by Millenia Walk Harvey Norman and catch a glimpse of her. Well, not juz a glimpse, perhaps a good view at around 3m away??

Wad astounded me was she dun look her age (36), she's radiating a glow so attractive dat most gers out there will go home crying before booking a tix to Korea n an appointment wif their famous plastic surgeons.

More important, although her features are not picture-perfect, she has dis aura surrounding her dat juz smacks of Chio Bu!! She's really sibei damn chio.............

Add to dat her polite ways, friendly dispostion and her heartwarming smile; yup, I've fallen under her spell. I was bewitched by her beauty. Not juz physical beauty, but the beauty of being a perfect wife model. She's so feminine, demure, nice and the list juz goes on......

I'm not the kind to go for demure gers; I'm reliant on the chemistry and feelings experienced between two individuals in luv. Dis time ard, I've to admit dat Lee Young Ae is basically like a masterpiece of beauty. Basically the kind of art piece dat miracles are needed for creation. She's a godsend.

Lee Young Ae...................makes me yearns greatly for a wife similar to her.........>_<

TS2235 Last Lecture

Yup...had my last lecture today....under Dr. K K Seet's TS2235. Had our presentation for our marketing plan as well; not too bad....although personally I dun find it outstanding! The lecture today was fun; a picnic lecture where all brought tidbits n had them moved around so frequently dat I believe most of the people in the class would suffer a sore throat by end of the day. HAHA!

Sad to say, dis lecture marks the end of my 3 years in NUS. No more studying, soon it will be Work. Perhaps den, I will look back at now; at dis lecture n grumble about the fun I had during schooling. 6yrs in primary; 4 yrs in secondary; 2 yrs in jc n now finally 3 yrs in uni.

Why do we understand n cherish the value only after we've lost it?

A worthy lecture to be the last n mark my varsity life. Thank you Dr Seet. Thank you classmates of TS2235. Most importantly, Thank you all I've known or even seen in NUS.
I'm beginning to miss NUS, even though I can finally rank it the 2nd love of my school period.

GOODBYE Everyone!!

GOODBYE NUS!

"Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them - work, family, health, friends and spirit - and you're keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls-- family, health, friends, and spirit-are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same! You must understand that and strive for balance in your life."

How?

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It Is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only You know what is best for you.

Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to Them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.

Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life.

Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is Really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is This fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Don't be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that We learn how to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find time.

The quickest way to receive love is to give;
the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly;
and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.

Don't forget, a person's greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.

Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.

Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery and Today is a gift: that's why we call it The Present.

Two traveling angels

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family.
The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room.
Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement.

As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest.

When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears.
Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.
The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen?

The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused.
The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.
"Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied.

"When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it."

"Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife.
I gave him the cow instead."

TS2238 Film Project

We had a screening of 4 our the students' films by Edna Lim.

1) Cabin

A film shot in the MRT cabin. The narration was interesting; speaking from the point of being a MRT cabin. In addition the correct usage of audio tracks help greatly in the atmosphere of the show. I luv the part when the kao peh woman left the train alone followed by the train moving into blur images wif flashback of the passengers in the cabin. Coupled wif the music, it was pure classic.....if only it had ended then. The last part of the woman toking to herself alone was pure...anti-climax. If it ended where I liked, I would find dat it have a feel of "The Sixth Sense"; whereby throughout the film she's toking to her son who wasn't there in the 1st place. Cool.

Overall = Good scenes & audio; lousy ending............

2) After Twelve
2 short parts: Birthday n Good Night.

Birthday was fantastic. The kid 'acted' very well. More importantly, the film techniques were great, not to mention the philosophical issues involved was so touching n yet depressing.

Good Night fare significantly less, the techniques weren't exactly very wonderful. The issues also less touching, although both stories involved the key word, LONELINESS!! A topic dat strikes me at heart. Of coz I can relate to them. I've already lost count of the times. I was in a similar predicament as the young boy many years back den. Hence, the topic really hit me right on target.

Overall = 1st story is fabulous, 2nd is so-so. The ending showing the 2 kids at the bus stop juz had a great impact. Really good mise-en-scene there!!

3) Secret Identity

Yup, our film. Why muz Edna Lim showed it?? Use voodoo doll on her. N I should have killed all the people in the lecture hall.

4) Which Floor

The funniest of all 4 films shown. Really comical. It's basically similar to Stephen Chow; to portray depressing issues in a comical way. I like the philo behind; of the people in the lift. Rather 12 storeys hor?? However, the comedy was aptly used as the audience's attention was captured. Great work.

Overall = Funny style aids in attention grabbing. However, the issues to be conveyed falls rather short when compared to film 1 n 2.

No prizes for guessing my favourite : After Twelve: Birthday.
A film which portrays wad I can REALLY relate to, sumthing I've been through, sumthing I understand, sumthing I can feel. I almost have a re-taste of the past experiences of mine.

Isn't it sad when all 4 films shown are actually toking abt depressing issues?? It's juz like saying "Face up to reality, the world is so harsh n cold. There's no fairytale ending; there's only sadness and nostalgia."

Which is your favourite film out of the 4???

Being Twenty-Something: They call it the "Quarter-life Crisis." It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are a lot of things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.

You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you do not realize is that they are realizing that too and are not really cold or catty or mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.

You look at your job. It is not even close to what you thought you could be doing or maybe you are looking for one and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and are scared. You miss the comforts of college, of groups, of socializing with the same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they weren't so great after all.

You are beginning to understand yourself and what you want and do not want. Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging a bit more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and add things to your list of what is acceptable and what is not. You are insecure and then secure.

You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you or you lay in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough to get to know better. You love someone but maybe love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you are not a bad person. One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap and getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic.

You go through the same emotions and questions over and over and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans and money and the future and making a life for yourself and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender! What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.

*Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people. The only graceful way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it. If you can't top it, laugh at it. If you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

TS2235

Watched 3 groups strut their marketing plans in class today.

Lesson learnt from the first group: Never have an individual so good dat he sabo the team.

They have dis guy presentation so good at his presentation, basically the kinda during presentation can clearly see an aura ard him. So wads wrong? He's too good; when his teammates take the stage they fall significantly short. In short, they cannot keep up wif him. So overall, a wonderful presentation dun look as good as it should. Instead of saying they are lousy, why not say dat the genius spoils the market for them??

A pity though, if only his teammates can keep up wif him.

Stress................

The stress is finally taking its toll on me. Deadlines of the real tough cookies are just by the corner. SC4203's presentation and essay are both killers, of coz the essay is "Last King". Add to dat a marketing plan way behind schedule, and there u are: A recipe for disaster!

I sent mails to certain old frens I hope to regain contact wif. Only Anson replied. I'm still waiting for the rest. Or....am I no longer their fren??

Campus Superstar

Yupz, did catch a bit of the Grand Finals here n there........

Favorite bit of the show? The duets of Teresa + Junyang & Zhi Yang + Sin Huey

Favorite song of the show? Wang Li Hong's Yi Shou Jian Dan De Ge (Sang by Zhiyang)

It's amazing to see young kids (yes I'm dat old!) having so much talent, and more importantly the guts to show off this talent of theirs. Technically speaking, they do face difficulties in reaching the standards of other reality show singers. However, there's something in their songs that make them strike a chord with the audience, and dat is : Youth! The essence and feeling of youth and untainted purity in their singing. Good work n Best wishes to all of them!!!

Why am I watching dis show? Dun I hate the influx or rather the excessive reality shows?? Yes I do. So? I'm not watching dis show for the singing. If I wan singing, there are tons of 'professional' singers out there. I'm watching dis show for juz a reason, probably the real reasons adults (like me) are watching...........REMINISCENCE

I'm watching dis show to remind me of the youth I was back den. N more importantly, wad I've lost (and found). To remind me of how 'pure' I was once back den. To remind me of how I've aged. To remind me of how I lost my self in dis world as I grow older. To remind me of how life is not wad I see as now, but rather wad I see as back den.

Nostalgia. If only I possess the guts all these young kids have back den. Things would have been different. My life story would have been different. Regret I muz. Nothing I can do. How can one ever triumph over one of the most powerful entity in the world? Time!!!

Hence, moral of the story: Have the guts to pursue your dreams and feelings. Something I never did! Something I SHOULD n MUZ do! Like these untainted youths, let me remind of how alive in dis world I am, and not lose myself in the so-called 'essentials' of the world.

Life.......it juz goes on wifout our cars; wifout our $$; wifout our jobs n our education n these things we think are so important.......This whole world goes on wifout them..........

Post-CampusSuperstarFinal Me = See if I could not learn what the world had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived................................

AHSJAB Chat

Had a great dinner at Ajisen Ramen wif Leo, Will n Poon........Not forgetting our heartwarming tok after Ya Kun..........

Well, even though its the usual digging out of gossips and secrets of one another, its really heartwarming to have such great old friends fooling around wif. Come to think of it; 11 years of true n sibei damn close friendship.........

Getting old......is fine.....as long as they are all there...........

NUSSC Clip

My first ever NUSSC photo clip.....courtesy of Windows Movie Maker.....

Next up.....how about one for SJAB??? Or perhaps for my film group???

NUSSC Couple?

No prizes for guessing who I'm gonna tok about.....Yup it's our dear Jiexun and his 'beloved' Karen...............HAHAHA..........

Well, 1st clarification : They are NOT a couple. Even though Regina dat dumb-dumb ger keep saying dat they have the 'husband-wife face'. Andy felt so too. I seriously dun think so! They are not exactly facially compatible right now, perhaps in the near future bah..............

Den why am I 'seeing' them as a couple? Well, becoz physically, they really exhibits more and more chemistry and compatibility. Let's use yesterday as an example.

1) YIH : Jiexun finished his food, uncleanly. Karen; being the ah soh who can never tahan food wastage and being the auntie who must capitalise on cheap thrills; ate some of the leftovers. Too bad no pictures for evidence. It REALLY looked like a husband finished his dinner and the wife is eating the leftovers. I was surprised by the image, coz it highly resembles an old couple......

2) Clementi: Jiexun ordered Western meal. He told us we can share as well. Only one shared wif him. U should know who!!! The best bit was when Jiexun started to makan, Karen started to open the chilli sauce. Their actions were so synchronized and bubbling wif chemistry dat the mise-en-scene literally screamed: WE ARE AN OLD COUPLE! (lao fu lao qi)

Frankly speaking, I find the chemistry brewing between them, perhaps unconsciously, or even unwillingly. Budden somehow, they got dis 'lao fu qi' look in their mannerisms. Perhaps an omen.......of something to come???

Royston Tan's 15

Too many issues to settle.....so one by one.....1st up.....Royston Tan's 15....shown at lecture today.

Overall evaluation: Quite good show, due to the realism being depicted in the show. The self-mutilation scene, the drug trafficking scene etc.....All of the visual and audio works hand in hand, hence, the audience was perpetually disturbed by certain such scenes!

However, rather den focusing on these scenes, I'm more interested in the philosophical statements of the show. Perhaps, it's because I'm dis emotionally philosophical fool!

1) The greatest pain in the world : Luv
Sibei damn true!! Luv can make or break a person!!

2) The second greatest pain in the world: Rage
How to counter argue....except for the second greatest. Budden rage is indeed a painful experience, isn't it???

3) The most lethal drug in the world: Despair
Despair is a very lethal drug; once u fall into its spiral, there's no way out. Losing of all hope is the most difficult drug to quit!

4) The greatest pain in the world: Unbearable
Well, a strange repeat though. The actual meaning in Chinese is "Tong Wu Neng", supposed to mean something along the lines of ' hating oneself's incapabilities'. I really luv dis! Juz how many times have we felt immeasurable pain in hating our own uselessness? Our incompetencies in doing better and achieving more den we have now?? Is it really a dramatic experience and painful one too??

A disturbing film indeed..............but one for us to ponder on the philosophy of life as well........
